I have a \"matching set\" of NY anodized nickel Dave Guardala alto and tenor saxes, though I think they are the B&S-manufactured ones. Mike Medley asks: Sax Necks "Hi, Steve!\r\n\r\nI have interest in replacing a few necks for my horns. We ship worldwide, and have many customers in the UK. We don't sell our products through dealers, only off this website. Can you give me some direction? Thanks, Alan Kays from Houston." Answer: I have a 4 year old Custom Z tenor and its pretty spot on so I know its the horn. The horn is only worth about $2200 per your prices, so I am not sure what to believe or how much to invest. Music Medic wanted $1700-$2200 to re-do the horn and doubt its the neck. So I am wondering if it really could be the neck? The intonation is fine until activating the octave key. They looked at it again a few months ago and opened the keys up against my wishes, claiming they just set it to spec. A local tech put new Roo pads on it about 4-years ago and problems still persisted. Mid and lower register corrected with stronger reed.

The horn has been a constant problem in the upper register. No internet or access to that concept at that time, so I eventualIy moved on to another career and started playing in a community band about 6-years ago. My sax teacher was upset at not buying a Selmer and claimed time and time again the horn played out-of-tune and suggested I investigate necks. Sorry, we only sell our products on this website.unfortunately, international postage rates are beyond our control - Alan Kays asks: Couf Superba I Alto Intonation and Neck Concerns "Steve, I purchased my H Couf Superba1 alto new while a music major at the U of Houston in/around 1979/80. I take care of the horn but like a lot of Rock/R&B/TOP style players my hands hit the keys hard. Thanks Oh, and how “thick” is the metal on the horn? One horn I liked in the past was the LA USA saxes, as they were heavy but they really took a beating on gigs, and I play a lot. The mpc has more to do with sound than the horn, but which of the two considering all I shared would you recommend? I am leaning towards to Voodoo Rex.

Is your Voodoo Rex C# similar to the Series III? Does the Low bell make the low notes thicker or just cool looking? I am a bright raspy TOP type player, play a lot of altissimo, peal paint with your awesome mouthpiece. In the old days when I owned a Series III Selmer he struggled with the C#.

My repair guy (studied with Paul Maslin, has a hard time with them.) Maybe he is not the repair man Maslin is or should be. I am nervous about the speaker Key on the Super 400. I have spoken to you twice on the phone and you were quite gracious. I need a mouthpiece that will blow the low notes easily and contribute to a dark sound. I keep my seat in big bands and Symphonic bands because I can play pianissimo low As with body. I use an old Selmer Paris S90 190 mouthpiece with a Rovner ligature withn 2 or 2-1/2 reeds depending on the style of music and the group I am playing with. What mouthpiece do you recommend for your horn. When are you going to make your new bari available? I should have asked you this question years ago, but I never thought how important it was until I watched your “mouthpiece” webinar. I have been playing your horn continuously since then and last year sold my 1964 Selmer Mark VI bari which I thought I would never part with. I blew your horn for about half an hour while he was fixing my Mark VI and I bought it on the spot leaving my “working” Mark VI for him to get rid of.

I have one your early Bari saxes S#111521 which Mark Kasten at Weiner Music suggested I try some years ago nowvwhen I brought my Selmer Mark VI for some repairs. One thing I learned as an engineer is respect what you don’t know as much as what you do know, and know the difference.
Pan american alto saxophone sax 1930 pitch full#
So when folks tell me I’m full of it, especially without even trying something, they are basically nullifying/negating/ignoring everything I’ve experienced and saying that I have not done anything in my life. I studied bassoon under Sandy Sharoff, for whom Bernstein wrote the West Side Story bassoon part, and I was going to be his disciple (until theater died). I’m 65 with an engineering degree and lots of experience. As an aside, I finally figured out exactly why the FB trolls on the Saxophone page (particularly Phil Barone) bother me. I have bone spurs in the neck from sports and cannot tolerate a full-weight sax. Second, per our talk about the plastic saxes, I would be interested in a plastic bari. (1) Want to confirm receipt of money for the beehive weight per discussion. I don’t see an email contact under “contact us.” Do you have an email? 2 things. Hi Steve, great talking to you the other day.
